Autechre to release 13 new songs digitally over two weeks
Band putting out 140 minutes of new music
Add Autechre to MyNME Autechre are to release 13 new songs digitally over the space of two weeks beginning on May 19. In total the band will extricate over 140 minutes of new music. The 13 tracks will be released digitally on bleep.com over a course of two weeks, either as a mini-subscription or individual track downloads as and when they become suitable. The music will then appear taken in the character of EP Bundles upon the body iTunes and other major download services a week later. Add The Pigeon Detectives to MyNME The Pigeon Detectives have been forced to cancel two shows in Ireland this week due to songster Matt Bowman injuring himself on stage yesterday (May 11) at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Maidstone. Bowman badly injured his leg during a performance of ‘Emergency’, but continued to leap off the stage and scissor kick into the air off the drumkit until he collapsed. He managed to finish the set before being taken to hospital where they initially wanted to operate immediately, but after further advice he was transferred to Leeds, where he is currently being treated. The show, entitled ‘The Phone’, will interlace two mobile phones ringing in a city, by members of the public who answer them then choosing if they scantiness to take part in the show. They will then have to complete a mission within a time limit to win a cash prize, reports BBC News. MTV executive vice-president Tony Disanto claimed the show would be “genre-busting”. He added that “each week will be an action-packed mini-movie”. MTV have not announced when the show will be filmed or broadcast. The band will now play Lower East Side venue Pianos in New York on May 27, and the Roxy in LA on June 22 in support of their debut album. The album, entitled ‘The Midnight Organ Flight’, was released April 15 and is currently at Number 21 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artists Album chart. Add Ok Go to MyNME Ok Go have announced that they will headline the second yearly publication Mighty Mic Human Rights Awareness: Save Darfur Concert at the University of California Los Angeles on May 29. This will be the band’s first Los Angeles performance in more than a year. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Student Anti-Genocide Network (STAND) and US Doctors for Africa’s Mobile Clinic project, which sends mobile health clinics that provide sanctuary and urgent medical assistance to Darfur refugees. “The perpendicular scale of suffering in Darfur is unbelievable — hundreds of thousands raped or murdered, millions displaced, hungry, and in danger,” said Ok Go frontman Damian Kulash. “For those of us lucky plenty to live without constant struggle and fear, it’s difficult to image. And it’s tough to find meaningful ways to help, so it’s great that UCLA students are making something certain happen. This will be the 49th year of the festival which will take place at historic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI.
